Cleveland pounds Flint, 53-0
Fury held to -10 total yards

Cleveland (5-2, 4-0 MCFL) jumped out to a 39-0 halftime lead against the Flint Fury (3-5, 0-4 MCFL) and cruised the rest of the way for a 53-0 victory Saturday night at John Marshall High School.

The Lions had all facets of its game working against an undermanned Fury squad. Cleveland scored on all six of its first half possessions and the defense completely shutdown the Flint offense, recording two sacks, eleven tackles for loss, a safety and a total of -10 total yards.

Cleveland scored five first half touchdowns, two through the air and three on the ground. Quarterback Albert Wilhelmy tossed a pair of touchdowns to wideouts Vernell Jackson and Dave Soucie while Chip McClain recorded two rushing scores and Lawrence Vickerstaff added another.

The Cleveland benches were emptied early, allowing the full roster to see action. A running clock in the second half stopped some of the bleeding for Flint, but tight end Mike Parris returned a punt 59-yards for a touchdown and reserve running back Darren Harris added another late score to provide the final tally.

Cleveland remains in a four-way tie atop the MCFL standings with their 4-0 mark, along with the Detroit Seminoles, Hardin County Wolverines, and Detroit Ravens. The Lions will look to run their record to 5-0 next Saturday, August 26th as they travel to Monroe, Michigan to take on the Southern Michigan Timberwolves (3-3, 1-3 MCFL).
